The Dyckman House

The Last Colonial Farmhouse in New York City

by
Sondra E. Ganelli
()

A typical eighteenth-century Dutch colonial Farmhouse, the Dyckman House is the last of its kind situated in Manhattan, coincidentally the heart of New York. Located at 4881 Upper Broadway in Inwood, I can only describe the house as a breath of silence among the mist of noise. Its quaint appearance and interesting history adds a touch of much needed quiet and simplicity to an area swollen with car noises, twenty- story buildings, and pollution.
