New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art is surely one of the most famous museums in the world, and rightfully so. It has one of the finest collections of paintings, sculptures, and artifacts, anywhere. The Met also has a substantial collection of arms and armor from all around the world. They have 14,000 armaments, but only 1,500 are on display. This report focuses on the museum's arms and armor from the Medieval period, and the following pages give a brief history of their development. All pictures are from the Met's collection.
