Order for Sale of English Tin, 1248
March twenty-seventh. In the year of the Incarnation of the Lord 1248.
I, Raymond Deners, confess and acknowledge to you, Raymond Bourgogne, my brother-in-law,
that I have had and received from you an order of two hundred pounds in the mixed money
now current in Marseilles, invested in fifty quintals and thirty-five pounds of tin, and
in white hemp and in one pisa of English black tin, renouncing, etc. With that order I
shall go, God willing, on the next voyage that I make to Acre, on the ship of Raymond
Siegfried, which is called the St. Esprit.
